LENGHT OF STUDIES
The Master's Program in Mechatronics Engineering is developed in full-time or part-time modality with a duration of 24 months. Length of studies is divided in 4 semesters. The first two semesters devoted to basic training while the next two are dedicated to the development of research work. In case the student requires more time to obtain the degree, he / she must request an extension with the approval of the thesis director and his / her tutorial committee to the Basic Academic Nucleus of the Program. The maximum time to be requested is 6 months.

In semesters I and II, 10 subjects are compulsory, 6 out of them are basic and 4 elective. The thesis director along with the student will elect, with the approval of the coordinator of the program, the elective subjects related to his/her research subject that will be developed during his/her studies. On the other hand, the tutorial committee will monitor and endorse their progress at the end of each semester.
In semesters III and IV two research seminars are taken. The coordinator of the program will appoint a member of the basic academic team who will from the beginning of each semester, set up the scheduled activities with the students to show the progress of their research, for the students to develop skills of self-criticism, feedback, communication and defense of the findings of their research. The academic workload of seminars for students will be four hours / week / month per semester. The seminar coordinator will be responsible for evaluating the students by submitting a written report to the committee formed by the academic core team of the Program, which will decide on what was needed in the event of a student or more being failed, assigning the remedial activities considered appropriate.
The following subjects are the elective ones that the student may take during the first two semesters:These elective subjects will be updated regularly according to the new proposed thesis topics or to new researchers that will be incorporated into the basic academic core.
In the middle of fourth semester, a dissertation draft must be submitted to the Master’s coordinator with the approval of the thesis director and tutorial committee in order to appoint the jury that will be integrated by three proprietary members and two alternates assigned by the basic core. At the end of fourth semester, all graduation requirements must have been met and thesis must be submitted with the approval of the jury to begin the degree exam. Subsequently, thesis must be defended before the jury.
